But God has so composed the body ……, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. (1 Cor 12:24b-25)
We envision Zion Bishan to become an inclusive church and community so that every differently-abled individual is a disciple and disciple-maker of Christ.
Our mission is to train and equip every member by:
- Enlightening and raise awareness about disability inclusion through sharing of stories and testimonies (Knowing/Believing)
- Enabling existing ministries to better journey alongside the differently-abled (Tools/Resources)
- Empowering the differently-abled to be disciples and disciple-makers for Christ (Confidence/Opportunities)
Zion Bishan BP Church welcomes individuals and families who are seeking programs for spiritual growth and Christian fellowship to be part of our church.
Hearing Impaired (HI)
The Hearing Impaired Ministry (HIM) is also an Action Group (AG) where friends with and without hearing impairment meet once monthly to study God’s Word.
At the 10.30 worship service the HIM sings in Sign Language together with the congregation. Monitor screens with a typist and basic interpretation are provided by the HIM volunteers.
To facilitate individuals with hearing impairment, headphones are available at the PA team.
We welcome friends with hearing impairment to visit and worship with us. Zion Bishan members are welcome to serve in this ministry. Please contact Timothy Ong at firstname.lastname@example.org for any enquiries.
Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM)
Zion Bishan BP Church is an accessible place of worship for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM). Facilities include:
- designated seats for wheelchair-users at the lower sanctuary;
- halls and classrooms are wheelchair-friendly (except classrooms at level 1); and
- wheelchair-friendly toilets at every level
- Lifts access to every level
- PRM may drive-in to the church for easy drop-off
Children and Youths with Special Needs / Disabilities
Zion Bishan welcomes young individuals with special abilities. Depending on their age, they could be part of the Sunday school programmes run by the Children Discipleship (CD) or the Youth Discipleship (YD).
Children Discipleship: Children of 3 to 12 years old
Youth Discipleship: Youths of 13 to 18 years old
Our CD and YD are integrated ministries i.e. not specifically focused on persons with neurotypical development but would encourage any differently-abled child to be nurtured in Christian faith together with the typical children. CD classes are conducted concurrently with our four church worship services where their parents could attend.
