A New Beginning @8.30am

By Sharon Quek

Last Sunday on 1 May 2022, the 1pm Service congregation (with its shepherding team comprising Ps Zheng Haoren, Eld Sonny Tan, Ng Zhiwen, and other ministry & BOD personnel) made the much-anticipated move to the 8.30am timeslot.

It is quite appropriate that the people who care for the various congregations are named “shepherding teams” because that is truly what we are, shepherds of the flock under our care.

“I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep and my sheep know me – just as the Father knows me and I know the Father – and I lay down my life for the sheep.” John 10:14-15

The 8.30am shepherding team seeks to know the Father and to lay our lives down for the sheep. How do we want to grow? Here are 6 ways…

God’s Word – As we hear scripture preached weekly, as a congregation, we want to hear our heavenly father clearly and to do His will. One of the best ways is to continue discussing God’s word and living life together in an Action Group (AG, i.e. a church cell group).  May we encourage you to consider joining one if you are not in an AG.

Corporate Worship – As a congregation, it is our joy to be able to come together each week to worship our Lord together as a Church family. As we are able to sing and pray together, may these times bless all who gather together.

Prayer – As a congregation, may we approach each challenge and joy in our lives together with much prayer and thanksgiving. In the times of corporate prayer together, we hope to encourage all to lift both the good and bad up to our Lord God.

Fellowship – Our prayer is to grow together in the bonds of friendship and love for one another. We are glad to restart our time of “Fellowship Tea” after service. Last week, we really enjoyed our nasi lemak and chat with each other after service.

Hospitality – As a congregation, we want to be a welcoming and hospitable place for all who are new to our service. May this be a culture not just amongst our serving teams, but also practised by all who come to this service regularly.

Witnessing – May we be active in witnessing for Christ to the lost around us, testifying to God’s goodness and reign in our lives.

May God be glorified!
