Prayer Points 8 May 2022

Our Church

Domestic Helpers’ Fellowship (DHF) – 3rd May was the 2nd anniversary of their virtual meetings. Thank God for Zoom, which has enabled them to meet every Sunday without fail for the past 2 years! They train helpers in Bible study so that they can study on their own and lead Bible studies even after they leave Zion Bishan or Singapore. Many helpers have returned to their home countries or transferred to non-Christian employers. Pray that they will continue to walk with Jesus and study the Bible, and also for more helpers to join them, including helpers of all ZB families.

Christianity Explored – Last Wednesday (4 May) was the last session of CE for this run. Thank God for the 5 seekers who continued to stick with us throughout the sessions. Pray for our table hosts as they follow up with them, and for the Spirit to keep working in their hearts to bring them to faith in the Gospel. We are looking forward to our next run in September, with Table Hosts training beginning in August.

Our People

The Lim Family – Pray for them and their two children who are embarking this week for Greece for about 2 months to explore how they can participate in God’s love to the refugees there. May there be a good settling down to a rhythm of ministry and other family activities. The recent conflict in Afghanistan and Ukraine has led to increasing numbers of refugees fleeing to Europe. This presents both a great need for food and shelter but also many opportunities to share the hope and healing of Christ to many people. Thank God for the opportunity for this family to explore what they can do in these two months and also for the longer term.

Our World

Myanmar – The need for food and basic necessities continue to be present in Myanmar since the military coup that occurred on 1 Feb 2021. Praise God for a ministry partner in Myanmar who has been providing shelter for about 18-25 family members in his home and also serving the needs of his neighbours and community with rice distribution. Pray for peace to come back to this nation and for the vulnerable to be protected.

Philippines – Typhoon Odette in December 2021 left a wake of damaged buildings and homes in in Negros Occidental near our ministry partner SMO (Student Missionary Outreach). However this opened up opportunities to share the gospel, help them with food and water, solar lights, a generator set and materials for repairs for their homes and church buildings. God brought together Christian churches and organisations, individuals, both locally and outside the country to help in this way. Thank God for this opportunity for God’s love to shine far and wide through this crisis. Pray for the follow up efforts of SMO, that it would continue to build bridges for the gospel to go out to further here.
