Our Church

Staff Retreat – The church admin, ministry and pastoral staff went on a retreat at JB on 12 Sep. Thank God for a great time of team building through games and the extended unhurried time together. Do keep the team in prayer as they serve the manifold needs of the Body of Christ in Zion Bishan.

Tamil Service – Our Tamil Service is celebrating God’s goodness and faithfulness today on its 39th Anniversary. Please remember to pray for our Tamil congregation to grow and mature in Christ.

Christianity Explored – Praise God for the 6 sign ups (4 who came) as the course began on Wednesday. Continue to pray for open hearts and heartfelt conversations as we help them to explore and hear who Jesus is and why He came through the Gospel of Mark. Pray for the table hosts and members as they come alongside the seekers in their journey, that they will do so in love, relying only on the help of the Holy Spirit.

The PSLE Exams will be from 15 Sep to 4 Oct. The children are naturally anxious. Pray for “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:6-7) Pray also for wisdom for the parents to know how best to support their child.

Our World

Libya Floods – Storm Daniel made landfall in Libya last Sunday, causing massive floods in the normally dry and arid Mediterranean coastal city of Derna, Libya. Many buildings collapsed and 5,300 people killed, with the number expected to double (The Straits Times, 14 Sep). Pray for the rescue and relief efforts for those still trapped and displaced by the floods. A state of extreme emergency has been declared in this nation. May God have mercy on all who are affected and for adequate provision of food, shelter and rescue for those in affected villages and cities.

Morocco Earthquake – On 9 Sep, Saturday, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck in the High Atlas mountains in Morocco. This is the largest quake Morocco has experienced so far in a century, and 2,862 people have died, and another 2,562 injured (The Straits Times, 13 Sep). These numbers are set to continue to rise in the coming days. Pray for the rescue efforts to be successful and that God will provide for the food, shelter and medical needs of those displaced and injured.

Persecution Around The World – One partner shared news that their believers are cut off from a local village’s water source and was forced to drink from a muddy river. Pray for all Christians who are facing challenging situations (sometimes beyond our imagination) because of their faith in Jesus. May the Spirit strengthen the faith of believers in these difficult circumstances. May Jesus be their comforter and their portion as they face trials and struggles.
