Getting Rest
By Ps Dev Menon
Following on from Ps Zhiwen’s update about the Music & PA teams last week, what else have we been doing or organising that will help us either experience, think through or better understand the rest promised to us in Christ?
- Retreats. Since January, at least 12 of our staff and elected leaders have attended a one-day silent retreat at CSF (Centre for Spiritual Formation), with another 20 scheduled to attend by May this year. We hope this will cultivate a habit of our leaders taking intentional time off to spend time with God.
- Courses. We have already announced sessions by our brother Scuter to help us rethink spiritual disciplines over the next 3 months (fully booked). In May we will be getting BGST to conduct a half-day session on the basics of Spiritual Formation, and from next month I will be organising workshops on Sabbath.
- Camp. Preparations are well under way to ensure this year’s church camp will have much time for reflection and prayer (while not neglecting the children). While it is no easy task to ensure this environment for 500 people, we are sure that God will help design something that engages our hearts as much as our heads.
What else is in store? Who knows. We are waiting for God to show us, guide us, lead us, delight us. Isn’t that a little bit of what resting in Him is all about?
