CD 2021 – FAQs

  1. I want to send my child for CD class. How do I go about it?
Please ensure you are subscribed Zion Bishan Children’s Ministry TELEGRAM Channel for the latest updates about Children’s Discipleship classes. (https://t.me/joinchat/WHvAeASKXDM5gXru)
Registration links for CD are found on the same Eventbrite link as the main services.
  2. Why do I need to register my child for CD?
Due to the Safety Measures from MCCY that need to be in place for churches to run religious programs on Sunday, every room in church has a maximum capacity. This includes CD classes. Once the maximum capacity of the room is reached, we unfortunately will not be able to accommodate any more persons.

On our end, the CM Team will try our best to ensure that every child gets to attend CD. Once the registrations for the week come in, we will try to distribute the children into classes that will accommodate the most number of them. This is why we need registrations to come in by Friday.

3. Which class should I send my child to?
Teachers will pick up the children from the Upper Sanctuary and bring them to class.

Children will be seated with parents/respective adult in the Upper Sanctuary.
After Scripture Reading the children will assemble at their respective doors and the CD teachers will collect them from the Upper Sanctuary and bring them to their classrooms. After CD ends, the CD leaders will bring the children back to the Upper Sanctuary and they can find their way back to you.

4. How do I ensure my child gets to attend CD weekly once we move to 200pax Services?

It will really help if you and your family commit to attending one congregation weekly.
Once you decide which congregation you will be attending regularly, do inform the Children’s Ministry IC for that particular congregation and your child will be included in the list of children who have committed to that congregation. This will help the Children’s Ministry in their planning and distribution of children across classrooms.

  1. Who are the Children’s Ministry ICs?
    1030AM CD – June Tan (8388 1883)
    1PM CD – June Tan & Li Hui Tay (9111 9652)
    3PM CD – Ruth Quek (9728 7145)
    5PM CD – Cassandra Lee (9336 6920)
    Email: childrensministry@zionbishan.org.sg

6. What happens if there are no more tickets left for CD?
Please contact the Children’s Ministry IC for your respective congregation.

7. What does my child need to bring for class?
There will no longer be sharing of communal materials in the classroom.
There will also no longer be any snack time / sharing of food permitted.

Every child will need to bring the following:
> Mask (labelled with name and worn at all times)
> Stationary (pencils, colour pencils or crayons, eraser)
> Tissue / Wet wipes
> Water Bottle (labelled with their name)
> Jacket (labelled with their name)
> and any other materials your child’s teacher may inform you of

8. Would it be possible for me to accompany my child to class?
Yes. Please contact the respective Children’s Ministry IC and inform them that you would like to sit in and arrangements will be made.

9. What if my child wants to bring some friends to CD class?
We welcome friends and visitors. They will need to register using the same weekly Registration Link.

10. My family attends the Ethnic Services at Zion Bishan but we would like our children to attend English CD.
You may send your child for English CD as long as your child is not attending any other children’s program on the same day. We want to avoid intermingling risk across different activities and groups on the same day – we want to be mindful of protecting one another and caring for each other’s safety even as we uphold what the MCCY regulations have stipulated.

11. My child used to attend English CD classes as well as Chinese Sunday School.
We are sorry but you will no longer be able to send your child for both English and Chinese children’s programs. We want to avoid intermingling risk across different activities and groups on the same day – we want to be mindful of protecting one another and caring for each other’s safety even as we uphold what the MCCY regulations have stipulated.

12. My family is not part of an AG/Action Group. Does this matter?
We STRONGLY encourage ALL parents to be plugged into an AG. This is because moving forward there is going to be major emphasis on the discipleship of children in the homes. And the AGs are the vehicles of discipleship for the wider church. So we hope that when parents are in AGs they will be able to be discipled and then can in turn disciple their children. If you are not in an AG but would like to join one please let any one of the following persons know – June Tan, Ruth Quek, Vernon Quek, Danny Chua, Linus Koe. For families not in AGs the respective Shepherding Teams at each service will help to follow up.

13. I am not a member of Zion Bishan but I have been attending Zion Bishan’s services regularly. Can my child join CD classes?
Yes!
If you would like to find out more about our membership classes please contact Pastor Dev Menon at dev@zionbishan.org.sg . We open intake for membership classes twice a year – January & June/July

Most of this document addresses parents and assumes that children come from homes where both parents are Christians. However we do acknowledge that some of the children who attend our CD programs may come from homes where only one parent is a Christian or may not even have Christian parents and may have been brought to church by relatives or friends.
