Prayer Points 22 August 2021

Our Church

COVID-19 – We are preparing to scale up our in-person services and ministries from September. Do check with your CST leaders for more details concerning your specific congregation. With the virus going endemic it is only a matter of time before one or more of our members get infected, so let us pray that we can minister to one another effectively when it happens. Let us also continue to pray that all our members are able to receive their vaccinations as soon as possible, so that none will fall severely ill.

Safeguarding – Pray for our church family as the safeguarding team works with our leaders and members to build a safer church culture in Zion Bishan. In the past weeks, the 3pm and 5pm congregational leaders and peer supporters participated in our first safeguarding equipping sessions where we discussed the necessity of guarding against abuse and how we can respond well as Christians. Read more about it in this week’s Word in Season.

Safe-Sound-Sleeping Place (S3P) for Women – Pray for our volunteer team led by Wendy Tan, and our Admin and Living Room staff as they provide loving hospitality for our guest stayers. Pray for the 6 who are staying with us that they may find rest and refuge in the Lord during their time with us.

Our People

Elder Quek Swee Peng – went Home to be with the Lord on Friday (20 Aug). Praise God for his life, ministry and the faithful legacy he leaves behind. Please uphold Melinda, Victor, Vivien, Ps Vernon and their families in prayer.

Our World

Afghanistan – This week, the Taliban forces have taken over Afghanistan and the capital city, Kabul. Pastors there are reporting that they have had to go into hiding because it is dangerous to go out. Here are some ways to pray specifically for them (extracted from an article on 9marks.org): Pray for physical protection and provision for their daily needs – there is no money in ATMs and banks. Pray for their faith to be strengthened, but also that God will “open the eyes of the spiritually blind and give life to dead hearts” even in this dark time for the country. May God give believers peace and hope in their distress.

India – Praise God that Brother B, who lost a leg, has started to walk with a prosthetic leg and is back serving at his congregation. Thank God that his young daughter is currently with him, but pray for the provision of someone who would be suitable to help care for her when he is busy with ministry.

Nepal – Our partner, who runs a children’s home, shared that their only milk cow died due to rabies infection from a dog bite. Pray that the boys who were caring for this cow will be protected from catching rabies infection, and for the Lord to provide them another cow.
